Gr. 4-6. Speculating on the future is always risky business. An article in a 1954 issue of Life magazine, for instance, predicted that electricity would be so cheap at the end of this century it would not even be metered. Taking such optimism into consideration, recent additions to the Today's World series still provide an interesting look at future living conditions. Living in the Future is a representative volume. Oversize, with bold, colorful graphics, it discusses such eventual strides as computers running the home, improvements in health care, developments in leisure activities, robot technology, and the possibilities for life in space. Although these subjects are given cursory treatment, there should be enough here for those seeking report information. Other new books in the series include Future Energy and Resources (0-531-17221-X), The Revolution in Industry (0-531-17222-8), both by Robin Kerrod, and Population and Food (0-531-17223-6) by Jane Thomas. ~--Ilene Cooper
