Booklist Review

As this group of books illustrates, technology can encompass everything from the shoes an athlete wears to a robot that can explore outer space to the chromatograph used in arson investigations. The New Technology series sheds light on recent developments in a number of fields, with (usually) understandable explanations for how complicated devices work. Appearing throughout the books are sidebars offering pros and cons for each development, while other sidebars focus on What's Next? Gaming Technology is unavoidably technical, with lots of acronyms and initials (NPC, GPC, PUI, etc.), but the audience of potential future game-designers ought to be appreciative. Although this series will quickly be out of date, it offers a fine overview for reports, and their attractive design may also entice middle grade readers to learn more.--Dove Lempke, Susan Copyright 2010 Booklist
